War on Kids with iPods?
We won the war on drugs. We won the war on terrorism. We won the war on… kids with iPods?
Well no. We didn’t win any of the above, but we’re still going to pursue a war on kids with iPods next. And here I was thinking that Iran was our next biggest priority (now that we’ve been so successful in ending errr starting the VietIraq quagmire…) our government says nooo, we gotta go after those iPods!
According to Reuters, “U.S. Declares War on Intellectual Property Theft”. Oh boy.
How Appropriate
It is simply amazing that this country still has not come to terms with its heritage of genocide and ethnic cleansing. Oh wait, I forgot. Genocide is how we implement democracy throughout history… like in Palestine (ie Israeli government wiping out Palestinians to bring democracy to the middle east. right….)!
This story came across cnn… Protest blockades Columbus Day parade. It seems that the Native Americans aren’t too thrilled with Columbus for some reason. Perhaps it is the same reason Palestinians aren’t too thrilled with the long line of Israeli war criminals, err I mean prime ministers?
The democrats want my money?! Ha!
The thugs at the DNC (democrats) sent me a letter ranting about how evil Bush is, and how I should vote for Kerry because he ain’t Bush. Right. This is what they’re getting in return…
“To Whom It May Concern:
I recently received a solicitation from your office for the campaign of John Kerry. While I would love to support his candidacy, I respectfully decline, as I do not feel his views represent mine. I will be voting for Ralph Nader in the next election, not only as a vote of dissent but to help ensure that John Kerry loses this election.”

A Response to A Nader-Hater…
(This is a post made to a Green Party mailing list in response to someone claiming that Nader would destroy third parties in the US for generations to come…)
This issue has been beaten to death by now, but I figure I’m going to add my $0.02 here as well…
Andy, the fact is that I would never have become engaged in the Green Party if it wasn’t for Ralph Nader. And I know I am not the only one. To suggest that “we can expect third parties to die off” as a result of Nader running is to ignore all facts that suggest otherwise — such as the fact that the Green Party has only grown because of the 2000 election.
I am not here to play games. I am not here to support the democrats. I am not here to continue business as usual. I am here to change the system. I am here to challenge the thugs and bastards who dare to call themselves American senators, congressmen, president, etc. They are a disgrace not only to our nation but to our world, and I am not here to say “yea, just play a bit nicer and we’ll let you stay in power”.

Was it worth it?
The New York Times has printed a list of photographs of the 1000 dead in the illegal, unjustified war on Iraq.
These are only american faces. What about all of the Iraqis, the many many thousands who have been maimed and wounded?
Is it worth it?

An Open Letter To Mr. Pearce of RalphDontRun.com
Greetings Mr. Pearce,
I wanted to write you an e-mail to try to understand why you feel that rather than trying to kindly guide Mr. Kerry towards taking a more progressive agenda, you instead feel it appropriate to disenfranchise voters like myself by guiding Mr. Nader out of the race and thus leaving me and other progressive voters without a real choice in this election.
The fact is that I cannot in good conscience vote for Mr. Kerry. It is not just that I consider him a slimeball, but rather the fact that I do not believe he stands for any of my values and has any chance of really guiding this country onto the path we need to step onto in order to prevent ourselves from slamming into the wall of unsustainability of our society. I also cannot vote, in good conscience, for someone who has been attacking Bush not from the left but from the right on the question of Palestine. The choice for me is not Nader or Kerry, but rather Nader or not voting.

The Spirit of America
A couple of weeks ago I spent time in Connecticut and Massachussetts with the Wheels of Justice Bus, an awesome project of the Voices in the Wilderness, Al-Awda(Palestine Right to Return Coalition), and The Middle East Children’s Alliance. The Wheels of Justice is a 1978 bus that is driven around the country with speakers who have been to Palestine and Iraq. I just uploaded the photographs to the gallery.
It is no wonder that our country is the mess that it is — when we came to a high school in North Andover, MA, one of the students told us that she was had never heard from anyone who dared to suggest that *all* conflicts can be solved without the use of force, violence and war. These kids are completely shielded from the real world, particularly from the ‘destructive’ influence of any opinions that go contrary to the formal drums of war (and corporate war profits) of the government.
